What is the difference between STIs and STDs?

STDs stands for ''sexually transmitted diseases,'' and STIs stands for ''sexually transmitted infections.'' Although there is difference in the name, they're almost the same. STIs is the most up-to-date term, so some educators and health care providers switched from STDs to STIs. However, no matter which term people use, they're basically talking about the same thing.
